I wish i had a snow day so that i can stay home and enjoy the day with my boys. I wonder what Caleb's doing? I'm sure he's having a great time with his dad. Last night was a good night. We did our bedtime routine and at the end said goodnight to everything in his room. I think he likes it. Soon he'll start anticipating things and know that after we walk around his room it's time for bed. I can't complain, though since he enjoys his room and being able to be a big boy in his crib. He went to sleep around 10:30 and wasn't up until close to 5am. Mommy got some rest. Then he ate and went right back to sleep till about 6:30. Had a change. Some QT time with mommy then it was off to our bed for some playing time while Dad kept trying to keep his zzzzzzzzs going. I love having Caleb in our bed right before it's time to get up because he watches both of us very intently, like he's trying to memorize what we look like together. Often when we're home and Ernest is holding him i'll walk over and kiss him and then give Ernest a kiss and Caleb's eyes go from me to his dad a few times as if he's wondering why his dad gets a kiss too. I love it. I hope that we can have that always. The other thing he does in the bed is turn to his dad and frantically wave his arm at him. I think he just wants to wake him up so they can play. Other times he'll just turn his little face and stare at his dad. I remember when i was still pregnant i would talk to him and tell him how lucky he was to have a father like Ernest. Someone so loving and kind. I would tell him that i wanted to him to love his dad very much and now he does. Mission accomplished! He really has a great time with Ernest. I almost can't wait for them to go to the park and play basketball or football. At the moment he's completely obsessed with his Dad. Last night when i finally got home my mother opened the door while holding him and he just stared at me for a while like saying, "well, you've finally made it. Took you long enough" then smiled at me while his little legs and feet went crazy. Then about 30 minutest later i was holding him and his dad walked in. My goodness, i've never heard that boy squeal the way he did when he saw his dad. His whole body stiffened up, his face lit up and he squealed very loudly while hugely smiling. I couldn't believe it. That was further proof that he adores his dad. Ernest cracks him up, makes him dance and bounce and sings to him while he changes him. No wonder he's in love. My goal now is to maintain that admiration. I want him to be 16, see his dad on the street and run to him and say hello with a hug. I want him to always be proud of his dad and be proud of himself. He and I have a special bond already that we will continue to nurture but what he and his dad are creating is really a beautiful thing to watch. So like i said in the beginning. I wish i was home with my boys on this kind of day. I miss them terribly.

How Time Passes
Just something to help you all understand how i'm feeling about my little boy growing up so fast. I wish the blog had posted them in the order i downloaded them but oh well. The second pic is a few minutes after his birth and the first pic is from this morning. It does't even look like the same baby. It's really too much sometimes.

Quiet time
So here we are, Ernest and I exhausted. Caleb's in his crib, which by the way i should mention he sleeps there now, by himself. It freaks me out but like i said before, he's very independent and wouldn't have it any other way. So he's there, I'm on the computer and poor Dad is asleep on the couch. This is what we call out "together" time. At least we're in the same room NOT talking about the baby. We're having our quiet time. Here are some pics i'm just learning to post.
Friends, I'm writing this blog as a way to inform all of you about the happenings of Mr. Caleb Carter Pelerin, aka Baby CC, Pelambre, Pancho, Munchkin, or any other name he's called. It's also a way for me to record all of the new things he does or how i feel on any specific day. I've been reading Operating Instructions: A Journal Of My Son's First Year by Anne Lamott and in her book she documents her son's first year and the incredible adventure that is and it inspired me to finally create this blog so that i can look back and remember my personal journey with the new love of my life. Hope you all enjoy it.
It's another snow storm only to be followed by yet...another snow storm. The snow is beautiful but i think i'm ready for the Spring so that Caleb and I can take long walks along the river, or a short walk to the park. I guess it's for the best since he'll be 7 months or so when the Spring really gets under way and he'll be able to really enjoy things. He's 4 months now. Will be 5 months on Wednesday and ever since he was born he's been independent. It's more obvious now that this is a kid who will troubleshoot through his life just fine. I give that credit to his dad since i know with 100% certainty that the independent gene did NOT come from me. Neither did that "chilled out" gene. He's a mixture of me physically and his father's temperament. Thank goodness. Although when he's fussy, or hungry, it's all me. Things must be done now, now, NOW. Oy! Nevertheless, he's an amazing kid. Hilarious and so intelligent. He's right on schedule with his motor skills and even ahead with some like picking up his legs and grabbing his feet only to suck on his toes. That's a daily activity. He's turning over and getting his arms out from under him so easily it's a little scary and he's even sleeping on his side. As i watch him pass every milestone in what seems 2 minutes, i often ask myself and out loud to Ernest, when he's there, WHAT'S HAPPENED TO OUR BABY? To which he replies, "nothing." Of course nothing but it feels like one day i brought him home from the hospital completely dependent of us, and now he's so ready to sit up on his own and screaming at the top of his lungs "mamamamamamamamamamamamamamama" (i'm pretending he's already saying mamma) that i don't quite remember what happened in between or where that time went. I tried to enjoy every second of those months but there just wasn't enough time. So now here we are at almost 5 months and he's less and less a baby. He doesn't really enjoy being held. He wants to sit on the floor with us (well, mostly his dad, if we're being honest) and play. I'm convinced that the first sentence he speaks will be, "i'm a grown man, i can do whatever i want!" Well, i'm sure i'll hear that at some point in his life. He's teething now. He's really been teething since he was about 3 months but now there's actual progress. You can see the little white cap on his gums. It makes Caleb so cranky. He's an absolute trooper, though. He still sleeps almost through the night, still is able to play and laugh and have a great time. I wish i had his bravery and strength in my normal life. At the moment he's at home with the babysitter and next week he will be starting Day Care. UGH! That's a whole other blog conversation. I'm heading home now to see that little angel. Catch you all later.
