Caleb and Ernest

I wish i had a snow day so that i can stay home and enjoy the day with my boys. I wonder what Caleb's doing? I'm sure he's having a great time with his dad. Last night was a good night. We did our bedtime routine and at the end said goodnight to everything in his room. I think he likes it. Soon he'll start anticipating things and know that after we walk around his room it's time for bed. I can't complain, though since he enjoys his room and being able to be a big boy in his crib. He went to sleep around 10:30 and wasn't up until close to 5am. Mommy got some rest. Then he ate and went right back to sleep till about 6:30. Had a change. Some QT time with mommy then it was off to our bed for some playing time while Dad kept trying to keep his zzzzzzzzs going. I love having Caleb in our bed right before it's time to get up because he watches both of us very intently, like he's trying to memorize what we look like together. Often when we're home and Ernest is holding him i'll walk over and kiss him and then give Ernest a kiss and Caleb's eyes go from me to his dad a few times as if he's wondering why his dad gets a kiss too. I love it. I hope that we can have that always. The other thing he does in the bed is turn to his dad and frantically wave his arm at him. I think he just wants to wake him up so they can play. Other times he'll just turn his little face and stare at his dad. I remember when i was still pregnant i would talk to him and tell him how lucky he was to have a father like Ernest. Someone so loving and kind. I would tell him that i wanted to him to love his dad very much and now he does. Mission accomplished! He really has a great time with Ernest. I almost can't wait for them to go to the park and play basketball or football. At the moment he's completely obsessed with his Dad. Last night when i finally got home my mother opened the door while holding him and he just stared at me for a while like saying, "well, you've finally made it. Took you long enough" then smiled at me while his little legs and feet went crazy. Then about 30 minutest later i was holding him and his dad walked in. My goodness, i've never heard that boy squeal the way he did when he saw his dad. His whole body stiffened up, his face lit up and he squealed very loudly while hugely smiling. I couldn't believe it. That was further proof that he adores his dad. Ernest cracks him up, makes him dance and bounce and sings to him while he changes him. No wonder he's in love. My goal now is to maintain that admiration. I want him to be 16, see his dad on the street and run to him and say hello with a hug. I want him to always be proud of his dad and be proud of himself. He and I have a special bond already that we will continue to nurture but what he and his dad are creating is really a beautiful thing to watch. So like i said in the beginning. I wish i was home with my boys on this kind of day. I miss them terribly.
