Mom was overwhelmed by love.

I can't really get into today because i'll cry, but i will say this: I was overwhelmed with love, pride, happiness, joy, excitement, etc. I had a knot in my throat the entire morning because i was so happy. It was Caleb's Easter party at school and i was there! Just knowing that i was there to hold him when he walked out of his classroom and was freaked out by the amount of people was enough for me to be happy, however, the entire morning was full of moments like that. I got to feed him, play with him, wash his hands and just spend time with him. This is so selfish to think that it was all about me but i really felt like i was the lucky one this morning. I truly wish he could remember this day the way that i will. One of the greatest days of my life. He makes me so happy and fills my heart.

I recently watched an episode of Betheny Ever After; a silly reality show about this woman finally finding love in this wonderful man and their new baby. She said in this episode, "when you have a child, your heart opens with love." Truer words have never been spoken. I never knew i could feel so much love for someone i've only known for 18 months. All i wanted to do was be with him. He's such a cool and brave kid, so much fun and smart.

His teacher recently told me that he's an incredible boy. She said he's so beautiful and smart, he dances all day, sings all day and is good to the other kids. She said that when he smiles the world lights up and all of the teachers just melt. That's what i feel for him. I love that others feel the same way. I love my little boy and i can't wait to continue to get to know him and spend more time with him. I'm one lucky mommy.

Enjoy the pictures and videos. Couldn't post all the videos on here so head over to Facebook to see the rest. Truly one of the most fulfilling days of my life. Enjoy!

My super smart boy!

After a long week and weekend of fevers, medicine, and Scarlet Fever, my beautiful boy is finally done with it all. The rash produced by the Scarlet Fever is GONE!! It was really hard to look at his little face covered in the rash and not feel bad for him. I suffered more than he did but that's always the case.

He went back to school yesterday and had a good day and this morning when i left him i asked the teacher about his progress and she had great things to say:

He's very smart and picks up on things quickly.
He knows how to share.
Gets along well with the other kids.
He's very sweet and kind.
He's learning a lot.

Our next step is to spend time learning colors, numbers, and ABC so that he's better prepared for when he's moved to his next class room.

It was nice to hear so many good things being said about our boy. We see it at home too. He repeats everything he sees and hears. This morning he said Kiki, which is the name of the girl on The Fresh Beat Band. He heard her name and repeated it. He's dying to talk. I'm ready.

I'm not really surprised at the first item since it's become very clear that he's a smartie. I'd like to take huge credit for that but i can't. That's all Ernest. I know kids are natural sponges, but when you have a dad with the kind of intelligence Ernest has you have a 50/50 chance of inheriting it. Glad to say that he has. I mean it's the least that could happen since physically he looks more like me, has my temper, personality, and stubbornness; i'm just glad he's as intelligent as his dad. Maybe he'll have his own "Rain Man" moments the way Ernest does when anything has to do with Electronics or when it come to fixing anything and everything. I'm smart but they're a different kind of smart. The kind that must create things just to be able to solve them, or take them apart, or anything to keep them busy. I'm content just knowing that things work. They have to know how. Thank goodness.

Clap your hands! Stomp your feet!

It's been an interesting week. Sick McSickalot got...well...sick again. Throat infection; a dear friend of his, which meant he got sent home from school with a fever, out the next day, so was mommy. Back to school the following day, got sent home with a low-grade fever, dad picks him up, mommy leaves work early, rushes home, relieves dad, dad heads to work, mommy stays home to break yet another fever. Today, Friday, dad's home on a day off with none other than...wait for it................. CALEB!!! At least he's much better today. Slept all night and woke up with no fever.

But on to the exciting stuff! Here's what Caleb's up to these days:
says UP or uuuuuuuuuu peeeeeeee
has become very obsessed with Blue's Clues. In fact, if i put anything els on he'll grab the remote, hand it to me, point to his head and say "THINK" (which is part of the Blue's Clues song).
He knows that the Wii plays Barney. So he'll grab his Barney doll and take me to the Wii.
If you sing "I love you. You love me" he dances with his Barney doll
He copies everything he sees on tv, including dance steps.
Has an incredible memory.
Knows how an Elephant moves. Rocks side to side stomping his feet. Swears he's saying, "elephant, elephant, elephant"
Understands both English and Spanish
Can feed himself.
only drinks from sippy cups; straw ones included.
Knows how to play: Patty Cake, Itsy Bitsy Spider, The Wheels On the Bus, and any other game you might throw at him.
Still loves music.
and now he scribbles.

As you can see he's incredibly busy and we're just trying to keep up. Most importantly, he's happy, healthy, and thriving the way he should. He's super strong. I keep calling him my little Sumo Wrestler because he is one SOLID kid. Bring on the Football!

Enjoy the picture of his first MASTERPIECE.

He's growing fast!

I won't say much except that Caleb is growing at an incredible speed and Ernest and i are just trying to enjoy every second we can with him. He now gets up and down from the couch by himself, eats breakfast by himself, which is great because that's when i get dressed, repeats words, although doesn't quite say them yet, but he does say "UP". I know i'm going to wake up pretty soon to him saying Mama, milk. I'm ready. I really am ready for my little guy to talk. I don't know how Ernest feels but it's the one milestone i've really been looking forward to. C'mon Caleb!

A quick tidbit about this week: We had snow all week. On Wednesday, Caleb's school closed early and on Thursday there was no school so he stayed with a friend and her son and had a blast. Has only met her twice and didn't cry with her at all. There's a precious video of him clapping along with my friend Jessica while she sang. I'll try to post it here but if i can't it's on my FB page. Enjoy all of these pictures!

These are the pictures from when Caleb spent two days with Jessica and Alejandro. Doesn't he look so happy? In the first picture, Jessica wore him out so much he didn't make it past his diaper change. He fell asleep while she changed him. He never sleeps face-up at home, not since he was about 11 months, but I guess he was too tired to turn over. Good job, Jessica!
